In a significant political development, Apna Dal (Kamerawadi) has announced its departure from the INDIA bloc ahead of the Lok Sabha Polls 2024. Leader Pallavi Patel revealed the formation of a new joint front with Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM, marking a strategic shift in alliances.

The newly formed alliance, named PDM Nyay Morcha, aims to champion the cause of social justice for the marginalized sections including Pichda (backwards), Dalits, and Muslims. This move aligns with the PDA concept, initially coined by Apna Dal (K) ally Samajwadi Party, which focused on empowering minorities and disadvantaged communities.

Pallavi Patel clarified that Apna Dal (K) no longer maintains its alliance with Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party, attributing the breakup to differences in strategy and objectives. She criticized Akhilesh Yadav for allegedly limiting the alliance to the 2022 Assembly elections and not extending it to the Lok Sabha polls.

Highlighting the lack of clarity from the Congress regarding their status within the INDIA bloc, Patel expressed disappointment at the lack of interest shown by Congress in defining the alliance’s scope.

The joint press conference announcing the PDM Nyay Morcha was attended by Pallavi Patel, her mother Krishna Patel, AIMIM chief Owaisi, and leaders from various political parties. Patel emphasized Owaisi’s ability to advocate for Muslim interests effectively compared to other political figures.

Asserting the significance of PDM Nyay Morcha in shaping the country’s political landscape, Patel stated that no government could be formed without their collective strength.

Regarding the alteration from PDA to PDM, Patel clarified that the change aimed to eliminate confusion surrounding the interpretation of the alphabet ‘A’ within the acronym. She stressed the importance of transparency in fighting for social justice and inclusive representation.

Pallavi Patel, currently serving as an SP MLA from Sirathu Assembly constituency, emphasized the coalition’s commitment to addressing social, economic, and political exploitation experienced by vulnerable segments of society.
